Full Day Excursion – Monday ( All Year Round)
Spain’s third largest city is located just a 2 hour coach ride from Benidorm. Valencia’s historic centre is one of the largest in Spain and its monuments, attractions, shops, bars and restaurants make it one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations.
The City was founded as a Roman colony in 138BC. It was later occupied by Moroccan and Arab Moors before being conquered by the Christian King James I of Aragon. Valencia has been Spain’s capital city twice and its long history means it’s steeped in art and culture, which is reflected in its popular traditions, such as the Fallas fiestas which were declared Fiestas of National Tourist Interest in 1965.
Head right into the heart of Valencia’s historic centre where you can spend the day at your leisure. Optional extras include the Oceanografic sea-life centre, Mestalla Forever, which is a guided tour of Valencia’s premier league football club’s stadium, and the open-top bus tour with audio-guide.
You’ll be collected by coach at your chosen start point. Once everyone is onboard, you will take the motorway to Valencia, with a journey time of approximately two hours, accompanied by an English-speaking representative. You’ll make a short “comfort break” en-route and arrive in Valencia between 12:00 and 12:30. Once in Valencia, you’ll stop at the Torres de Serrano which is right in the heart of the City, walking distance from the Cathedral, Central Market and shops that Valencia is famous for. For those wishing to explore the city at their own leisure, you’ll have approximately 5 ½ hours free time to do so.
As with all big cities, Valencia has a fantastic open top audio guided city tour bus which departs the Plaza de la Reina every 30 minutes and the historical tour of the city takes 90 minutes. The representative on the day can offer you a discounted ticket for just 12€ per person and the City tour is a great way to see all of the best parts of the city without having to move a muscle. For those who want to, you can joinm the guided tour of the Mestalla football ground, home to the Valencia football team. The Mestalla is the third largest football ground in Spain and the second oldest. The tour lasts for an hour and you can access all parts of the stadium, including the press lounge, trophy room, changing rooms and winners’ balcony. During the tour you will learn some history of Valencia as well as the team’s history. This is a great complement to the Valencia trip. Tickets can be purchased on the day for just 10,60€ for Adults 8,10€ for kids 4-11 and over 65’s (proof of age is required) and infants 0-4 go free.
Valencia is also home to the City of Arts and Science and the Oceanographic Centre, which is Europe’s largest aquarium. Entrance tickets to the Oceanographic are available to purchase on the day and you’ll get 2 ½ hours at the Oceanographic to wander through the tunnels beneath the water and will see marine life from all parts of the world. Tickets to the Oceanographic cost 29,10€ for adults, 21,85€ for Kids and over 65’s (proof of age is required) and infants 0-3 go free.
Whatever way you want to spend your day, you’ll not be disappointed. You’ll arrive back at the hotels around 19:30.
